Cons of Living in Katy, TX

Though the pros far outweigh the cons, there are some drawbacks to living in Katy.

    ●      Lack of Nightlife: While live music and late-night venues are around, they are not as plentiful as in the heart of Houston. Katy is a family-oriented community so restaurants and bars close a bit earlier here.

    ●      Public Transportation: Living in the suburbs means less access to public transportation. With Katy’s many conveniences, it’s less likely you’ll need to venture far but if you need to, you’ll need to plan accordingly.

2022 was another milestone year for Cane Island as the premier Katy community of new homes opened a sparkling new onsite elementary and a sprawling new model home park amidst new, move-in ready homes by acclaimed Houston builders.

After much anticipation, Cane Island’s new onsite Robertson Elementary opened for the 2022 - 2023 school year. Part of the outstanding Katy Independent School District, Robertson Elementary offers spacious classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, and leading-edge teaching technologies.

As for Katy ISD, it once again was named #1 Public School District in the Houston area, earning an A+ overall grade according to the Best School Districts list compiled by Niche.com.

Given Katy’s ISD’s sterling reputation, it’s no surprise to hear Cane Island residents cite “quality of schools” as one of the key reasons they selected the community.

2022 also brought the opening of Cane Island’s model home park, twelve new fully furnished showcases situated on cul-de-sac settings where visitors can park and walk from model to model. Two other models, both expertly decorated, are open throughout the community. All model homes are open daily.

In the Cane Quarter amenity village, the Retreat, opened as a quaint, resident-only setting with plush furnishings, classic board games, complimentary coffee, bottled water and fresh fruit.  Overlooking the Cane Quarter lawn, the Retreat is ideal for curling up with a good book or enjoying board game fun with family and neighbors.

Cane Island also hosted its popular Candy Cane Market, Crafts & Crawfish, Spring Fling and Back-to-School Bash while its onsite restaurant, The Oaks Kitchen & Bar, continued to earn rave reviews with its ranch-inspired American classics at lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch.

To reach Cane Island, take the Cane Island Parkway exit off Interstate 10 minutes west of the Grand Parkway.  Head north on Cane Island Parkway one half mile to reach the community entrance.
