Katy City Park is incredibly unique in a city filled with so many amazing parks. It features Katy Play Station, an all-inclusive 13,000-square-foot playground that was custom-designed to pay tribute to the MKT Rail line. Fun fact: the city of Katy was even named after the MKT Rail line. This playground is also the state’s largest innovative playground for multiple-impaired and profoundly deaf children. The Katy Play Station has received several awards for its design and contribution to the community. There are sports facilities perfect for outdoor games or hosting tournaments; however, reservations are required for use.

Since opening in 1991, the Mary Jo Peckham Park has been an outdoor park designed to be enjoyed by children, families, older people, and people with disabilities. This stunning 32-acre park in Katy is top-rated due to the sheer number of things for children to do, from putting around the mini-golf course to traversing the playground to feeding the ducks and fish in the fishing pond.

From dawn to dusk, canines of all sizes howl with excitement at the City of Katy Off-Leash Dog Park. This popular 7-acre dog park opened in March of 2007 with plenty of trees and grass to keep your pup comfortable. The wading pool will be like taking your four-legged friend to the water park. This dog park is divided into two parts for small and large breed dogs to ease every dog owner’s mind so you can worry less and play more!

Many may not think of VFW Park when thinking of parks for children. However, this wooded park features a large pyramid rope climber within its exciting children’s playground. You can make a fun afternoon outing to VFW Park with the picnic tables. You can also rent the picnic pavilions for your next event or enjoy events put on at VFW Park.

While Malcolm E. Beckendorff Family Park is smaller than many parks at just over 2-acres, it offers a safe place for children to play with less foot traffic. The trail surrounding the park is a convenient way for you to get some exercise by walking or jogging as your child(ren) burns energy on the playground.

In 2016 to promote student activity and activity for the greater community, Willow Fork Park was opened as a collaboration between Willow Fork Drainage District and Katy ISD. On 32-acres, you’ll discover over 15 species of trees, more than 60 plants of 25 different species, and six different species of prairie grasses. This park is perfect for children and families to get outside while offering a unique opportunity to learn to identify the different trees and plants with this downloadable map.

Since opening in 2015, Exploration Park has been an immersive public playground that supports learning while playing. The park was designed to encourage environmental stewardship and educational principles, with its overall theme inspired by water. Exploration Park’s unique play area features a raindrop berm lawn, swings, a musical bridge, a sensory garden, and a slide tower and bridge that connects to a hill slide.

Named for Terry Hershey, a conservationist who campaigned for the banks of Buffalo Bayou not to be paved, Terry Hershey Park spans 500 acres along the banks of Buffalo Bayou and South Mayde Creek. This park is perfect for families who want to spend time outdoors with a relaxing hike, cruising the bike trails, and walking without traveling outside the city. The Kid Fit Park is for children who need more of a physical challenge and includes equipment such as a rock wall, vertical bars, parallel bars, rope climb, overhead ladder, and more.

George Bush Park is a 7,800-acre park named in honor of the 41st president George H.W. Bush. This popular attraction and nature reserve offers plenty of activities that you can do with your children or family dog. Many of the trails in this park follow the ever-popular Buffalo Bayou, while other trails are surrounded by swamps and forests. You’ll get the impression of being far away from it all without leaving Houston.

Plenty of shade covers the expansive Millie Bush Dog Park to keep you and your furry friend comfortable. This dog park is divided into two parts for small and large breeds. With two ponds for large breeds and one for small breeds, your dog will enjoy a water park-like experience of their own. Whether you are looking for a safe place for your dog to play or for a new location to walk your dog, your pup is sure to leave Millie Bush Dog Park exhausted.

Paperback Park in Cane Island is the newest edition to playgrounds and parks in Katy, TX. You can bring the family to pick out a new book at one of the small book sharing units that were installed by the Little Free Library or skip a trip to the water park to let the kids splish-splash in the Splash Pad. This park offers a variety of things to do that appeals to all ages.
Residents of Cane Island can access Paperback Park through the walking trails that connect the neighborhoods. With access to Cane Quarter, The Oaks Kitchen & Bar, the fitness center, and the lagoon-style family pool and cabanas, you can make a full day at Paperback Park or enjoy the park as you pass through it.
