Cane Island Presents Live Music at The Oaks Starting Thursday, July 2

Just weeks after Cane Island opened the safe, fun experience of double-feature drive-in movies, our community of new homes is hosting another opportunity for cooped-up families to get out and have fun in a safe, responsible way.

Cane Island will host its summertime Live Music at the Oaks as up-and-coming talents perform in the community’s Cane Quarter amenity village where families can enjoy live music sounds while delighting in cuisine from The Oaks Kitchen & Bar.

Live Music at The Oaks kicks off Thursday, July 2 with Rock Agents followed by the Beatles cover band, Fab Five, on Friday, July 3.  Rock Agents returns on Thursday, July 16 followed by Hayden Baker on Saturday, July 18. All concert times are from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

In the interests of everyone’s health and safety, reservations for indoor and outdoor table seating are required in order to ensure adequate social distancing.  To reserve seats, call The Oaks Kitchen & Bar at 281-574-4144. 

In addition, masks are required while guests are not seated in The Oaks Kitchen & Bar or in the outdoor seating areas.  Blankets are not allowed on the Cane Quarter central lawn.

Cane Island’s Free Pop Up Drive-In Movie Theater Returns April 3-5

Back by popular demand, Katy’s Cane Island will host the return of its free pop up drive-in movie weekend, April 3-5, with three straight days of family fun presented in a acceptable, socially-distant manner.

With a new location in The Estates at Cane Island, the community’s weekend drive-in movie theater is open to the public as it presents popular, family-friendly and PG-13-rated movies on a large, elevated screen.  Cars will be parked ten feet apart to allow for proper social distancing. Pedestrians and bicycles are not allowed.

On Friday, enjoy Angry Birds 2 starting at 6 p.m. followed by Gemini Man at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Cane Island’s pop-up drive-in presents a triple feature: Dumbo at 2:30 p.m., 101 Dalmations at 5:30 p.m. and Jumanji: The Next Level at 7:45 p.m.  Sunday’s first movie, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu starts at 2 p.m. followed by Dark Waters at 4 p.m.

For the ultimate in drive-in fun, enjoy burgers and dogs prepared fresh on an open flame grill by The Oaks Kitchen & Bar, Cane Island’s onsite restaurant.

Cane Island will host a pop-up drive-in movie weekend, March 27-29, with three straight days of old-fashioned double-feature fun presented of course in an acceptable, socially-distant manner.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, relax in the comfort of your own car and enjoy a family-friendly movie on Cane Island’s large, elevated screen with a PG-13-rated movie presented shortly after.  Admission is free.  

On Friday, enjoy The Lion King starting at 6 p.m. followed by Avengers Endgame at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Cane Island’s pop-up drive-in presents Toy Story 4 at 6 p.m. followed by Knives Out at 8 p.m.  Sunday’s first movie, Aladdin, starts at 2 p.m. followed by Fantastic Beasts at 4 p.m.

Located adjacent to the community’s Cane Quarter amenity village, Cane Island’s pop-up drive-in has been staked for cars to park at a distance to allow for proper social distancing.    Pedestrians and bicycles are not allowed.  To reach the community’s pop-up drive-in, go to Cane Quarter, 2100 Cane Island Parkway, and follow the signs.

Crafts and Crawfish with Real Craftwives of Katy Returns to Cane Island

Cane Island will host the return of Crafts and Crawfish presenting the best of springtime shopping finds from the Real Craftwives of Katy, heaping plates of a fresh crawfish, live music and children’s activities galore on Saturday, March 28 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Admission is free for a full day of family fun featuring live music, beer, fresh crawfish by Tad’s Louisiana Cooking and the opportunity to browse among dozens of local vendors for hand-crafted jewelry, gift ideas, clothing and accessories.  Children also will enjoy bounce houses, face painter and other activities.  All children’s activities are free.  Fresh crawfish is available for purchase.

Cane Island Hosts Return of Annual Classic Car Show Saturday, April 18

A large gathering of classic cars, exotic high-performance sports cars, vintage roadsters and custom hot rods is coming to Cane Island in Katy as our master-planned community of new homes presents the Fourth Annual Cane Island Car Show on Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

Open free to the public in the community’s Cane Quarter, 2100 Cane Island Parkway, the car show is ideal for everyone from classic car aficionados to those simply looking for a fun outing with the family.  Plus, every car is available for up close inspection with vintage collectors standing by to chat about everything from bumper to bumper.  As always, photos are encouraged.

BBQ Cookoff & Concert Comes to Cane Island Saturday, February 8

With rodeo just around the corner, Katy’s Cane Island will get a jump on the flavors and fun of the season with the inaugural Cane Island BBQ Cookoff & Concert on Saturday, February 8 from noon -5 p.m.

The cookoff, live music and family activities will take place in the community’s Cane Quarter amenity village, 2100 Cane Island Parkway.  

Open to the public, Cane Island’s BBQ Cookoff & Concert will feature 20 local cooking teams competing for top honors in brisket, chicken, ribs, fajitas and pulled pork. 

Admission is $12 per person (children are free) for pulled pork samples, raffle ticket and a vote for Best Pulled Pork.  Plus, families will enjoy live music, petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting, inflatable bull and food trucks.  Proceeds benefit the Krause Children’s Center of Katy and its mission of helping young women ages 12 – 17 overcome abuse and neglect.

Judging will take place at 5 p.m. with category winners earning bragging rights and cash prizes totaling $5,000.

Cane Island Reports Record Sales in 2019

For the second consecutive year, Katy’s Cane Island has recorded a double-digit increase in new home sales while setting a new mark for sales in a single year.

For 2019, Cane Island recorded 207 new home sales, an all-time high for the Katy community.  The 2019 sales figure represents a 17-percent increase over the community’s 2018 figures.

“Sales have been strong since the opening of Cane Island Parkway from Interstate 10 to the community entrance,” notes Lawren Eckhardt, director of marketing for Cane Island.  “Plus, our builder partners have done a terrific job of providing an ample inventory of move-in ready homes with a variety of styles and price points.”

In addition to an abundance of move-in ready homes and accessibility just off Interstate 10, Eckhardt says home buyers are attracted to the community’s Cane Quarter amenity village, a resort-style setting with two-story fitness center, yoga studio, lap pool, central lawn, fireplace loft and The Oaks Kitchen & Bar.

Candy Cane Market with Real Craftwives of Katy Returns to Cane Island

One of west Houston’s most popular single-day holiday shopping events, Candy Cane Market with the Real Craftwives of Katy, returns to Cane Island Saturday, December 7 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. when more than 60 local vendors present handcrafted jewelry, custom clothing and accessories, fun items for the home and other unique finds.

Candy Cane Market once again will open in Cane Island’s tranquil Cane Quarter setting where shoppers can leisurely browse amongst the collection of holiday vendors.   As part of Candy Cane Market, families can take free, Instagram-worthy photos with Santa and photos inside Cane Island’s life-sized snow globe.  A children’s bounce house also will be available.

Before, during or after shopping, shoppers can enjoy gourmet food truck cuisine available for purchase or they can unwind and enjoy ranch-inspired entrees, hot sandwiches, salads and more in The Oaks Kitchen and Bar, Cane Island’s new full-service restaurant.  The community’s collection of models homes, each fully furnished and expertly decorated, also will be open to the public with free admission.

27th Annual Katy Triathlon Returns to Cane Island

The Katy Triathlon, now in its 27th year, will return to the Katy community of Cane Island on Sunday, November 3 when participants once again can compete in a traditional triathlon, a three-stage duathlon or a two-stage aquabike with proceeds benefiting scholarships for deserving Katy ISD seniors.

The Katy Triathlon is the oldest triathlon in the greater Katy/Houston area, as well as the only triathlon that is a non-profit event.

Last year marked the introduction of the duathlon (one-mile run followed by a 15-mile bike ride and three-mile run) and the aquabike (500-meter swim followed by a 15-mile bike ride) and by all accounts, the new events were very well received.

“Our race participants jumped by more than 50 percent,” says race chair Paul Kurt, noting an increase from 360 participants in 2017 to 555 in 2018.  “The new events provide an opportunity for those who may not be ready for a triathlon to compete in shorter and different two-sport races.”

The triathlon covers a 500-meter open water swim, 15-mile bike ride and three-mile run.

In anticipation of even larger crowds, Kurt says convenient offsite parking will be available at the southwest corner of Highway 90 and Cane Island Parkway.  Complimentary shuttle service will be provided from the parking area to the event site.

A pre-race party and pasta dinner will be held on Saturday, November 2 from 4-7 p.m. in Cane Island’s Cane Quarter, 2100 Cane Island Parkway.  Admission is free for race participants.  Guests are $10 per person.   Race packets also can be picked up that same day from noon – 7 p.m. in the Cane Quarter fireplace loft. 

Also new this year is a kid’s triathlon on Sunday, October 20 at the Mark A. Chapman YMCA, 1350 Main Street.  Children ages 5 – 11 can participate in a swim, bike and run according to age category.

Festival of Trees Benefiting The Ballard House Returns to Cane Island

A year after raising $90,000 for The Ballard House of Katy, the Festival of Trees returns to Cane Island November 29 - 30 when families can purchase custom-designed Christmas trees and wreaths, browse a massive holiday gift market, enjoy live entertainment, photos with Santa and more.

Proceeds from this year’s Festival of Trees will benefit The Ballard House and its mission of providing temporary housing for patients and their families coming to the Katy area for extended medical treatment. 

Festival hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days.  Free on-site parking is available.  All festival activities will be held in our Cane Quarter.

The focal point of this year’s festival once again will be the Parade of Trees, more than 100 custom-designed Christmas trees and wreaths expertly themed and decorated by neighbors, businesses and organizations.  Each is available for purchase or visitors can browse the collection for fun Instagram photos or to pick up decorating ideas. 

Festival of Trees will showcase more than 50 local exhibitors presenting crafts, jewelry, foods, gift items and great holiday finds, live music performances and other entertainment along with food truck cuisine and S’mores kits for fireside marshmallow roasting.

Photos with Santa and a Big Fun Kidz Zone with bounce houses, trackless train, face painting, balloon artists and pony rides are available for the little ones while the big kids will enjoy a collection of vintage and classic cars presented by the Katy Cruizers car collector club.

As for admission prices, new this year is a family four pack for $25. Single tickets are $10 for adults; children, senior citizens, veterans and first responders are $5; and children under three are free.

Cane Island Hosts Holiday Spectacular

The Katy community of Cane Island will host the return of its popular summer concert series starting with two live music performances in June, free and open to the public, in the confines of its tree-lined Cane Quarter.

Katy Realtor Wins Trip To Disney World As Cane Island’s Top Producer

Katy Realtor Jamie McMartin is going to Disney World!

The head of one of Katy’s top-selling Realtor teams is taking her family to “The Happiest Place on Earth” after The Jamie McMartin Group was named Cane Island’s top-selling Realtor team for 2018.

            “Cane Island is a lovely community with a terrific selection of new homes and some of the best amenities in the area,” says McMartin.  “Our real estate team is delighted to earn its top-producing recognition.”

McMartin and other area Realtors are a big reason why the community experienced an uptick in new home sales in 2018, according to Lawren Eckhardt, marketing director for Cane Island.  Last year new home sales in Cane Island jumped an impressive 54 percent.

More than 65 local vendors, fresh crawfish, kids activities and more are coming to Cane Island as the Katy community of new homes presents the return of Crafts and Crawfish Market with the Real Craftwives of Katy on Saturday, April 6 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Katy’s Cane Island Reports Sharp Increase in 2018 New Home Sales

New home sales in Cane Island jumped an impressive 54 percent in 2018 as a growing number of west Houston families continue to discover the Katy community, its broad selection of new homes, resident-only amenities and ease of accessibility from Interstate 10 via Cane Island Parkway.

            “Our buyers are busy families from the area who appreciate the convenience of immediate I-10 access,” says Lawren Eckhardt, director of marketing for the Katy community on Cane Island Parkway one half mile north of I-10.

            Now in its third year, Cane Island offers new homes from the $200s to the millions by several award-winning Houston builders.  In 2018, more than half the community’s new home sales were on 50, 55 and 60-foot homesites.

            “Very simply, we listened to what the market wanted – highly amenitized luxury homes on smaller properties,” says Eckhardt.

            The community’s Cane Quarter also continues to be a popular draw for buyers, Eckhardt adds. 

The resort-style setting features a lagoon-style family pool and cabanas, children’s water playground, lap pool, two-story fitness center, yoga studio with on-demand classes, fireplace loft, Katy’s only glass-walled conservatory and a central lawn for movie nights and other community gatherings.  An onsite restaurant also will open in Cane Quarter this spring.

Later this year, Cane Island will open two new model homes, a 60-foot plan by Shea Homes and a 100-foot plan by Partners in Building as the community continues to introduce new floorplan designs by Houston’s leading new home builders.

            “We’re constantly looking for opportunities to present the broadest selection of new home plans,” Eckhardt says.
